8 top small business trends of 2021
Retaining your best employees is important for your business. Be sure you're not giving them reasons to leave by avoiding these seven mistakes.
Employee retention is important for small businesses because of the high cost of recruiting employees and because of the negative impact the loss of a key employee can have on staff morale and customer relationships. On top of that, when an employee you have trained leaves, it feels like a slap in the face! You tell them how valuable they are but by the time they submit the letter, you know that it’s nearly impossible to get them to stay.
Regardless of how good of a manager you are, sometimes employees are going to leave. Often, their departure stems from factors outside of your control, but sometimes the reasons they leave are related to mistakes you may be able to correct.
On his first day in office, President Biden issued an executive order freezing for 60 days various federal proposed regulations as well as those finalized but not yet in effect. The purpose of the freeze is to allow the new administration time to review, and perhaps, change the rules. Some of these freezes impact small businesses. Here are some to consider…and what to do about them.

The year 2020 brought hardships and change for many people around the globe, and our everyday habits and behaviors have dramatically shifted.
Our priorities have changed as well, with many people focusing anew on their health and well-being, including what they eat. As a result, food and health cultures have changed.
Putting an end to 2020 feels cathartic. This year has put an unprecedented strain on our lives, affecting us in ways big and small—in ways obvious and in ways we likely haven't even started to understand. Yes, 2020 has transformed us. With 2021 now here, we understand that our journey is not done. We still have challenges ahead. We are still learning and growing.
When we look at the year ahead in the well-being space, what we see reflects that. We are pushing to make a healthier society—through things like metabolic health or accessibility to fresh, whole foods. We are realizing that when we let nature do what it's supposed to do, we are better for it: from the tiny, microscopic world of our skin microbiome to the planet itself. And we are coming together, to find innovative fixes to systems or mindsets that do not serve us: from unrealistic parenting standards to the way we've underprioritized mental health.
All of these things, and more, emerged because of last year. It was a hard one, but let's do our best to make sure that we are better because of it.
Foods won’t just be valued for staving off hunger pains. The future of food and drink will take cues from the supplement market, calling attention to the roles that specific ingredients play in improving overall health and well-being.
COVID-19 was a reminder that health is transient and can change at any time. For many, this led to looking for products that could support a healthy immune system to better prepare them for illness.
According to Market Research, over 50% of consumers reported taking more supplements to support their immune health in 2020.
This growing interest in immune health will continue to be a top focus of the health and wellness industry in 2021. Rather than focusing on treating conditions, many consumers will strive to prevent them via a strengthened immune system.
In response to this, the food industry will take notes from the supplement industry by creating products with added nutrients that may support immune function and overall health, such as zinc, selenium, vitamin C, and vitamin D.
In this day and age, any business that wants to thrive must go online.
With so many things going on around the world, and global changes that will forever impact the way people live and do business, going online is no longer just an option.
Not only to maintain their success, but even just to survive.
Sure, there are tools that are already available that any business can use to run their entire company and processes digitally.
However, any minimum amount of research will tell you that most of these products are expensive, complicated and limited in customization.
In other words, not very user-friendly, and definitely not suitable for all business owners, especially those who are less tech-savvy and might even be on a budget.
I mean, who can afford to invest thousands of dollars a month into a bunch of complicated tools, and on top of that, hire employees to manage the systems, right?
Well, if this sounds familiar in any way, I have some good news for you.
As an online marketer and blogger myself, I am always looking for new solutions for these everyday challenges we face as business owners.
Today, I am very excited to introduce you to my latest discovery.

The co-founder of Groove, Mike Filsaime, is actually a veteran in the Internet marketing space, and has put all his experience and expertise into one of the best suite of marketing tools I have ever seen.

I’m not exaggerating by any means…
From what I’ve seen so far, Groove includes everything that I need to run my online business, all for absolutely free.
Here’s just a quick list of what I’ve gathered so far:
FREE sales, page and funnel building platform

I mean, why wouldn’t I?
It’s FREE, and it’s probably the BEST suite of marketing tools I have ever seen in my life.
By the way, there’s more…
I didn’t even mention some of my favorite benefits of Groove.
As a member, I’ve also received a TON of community benefits.
I’ve been able to join their private Facebook group, connect with marketing experts inside, get help with all my problems, access private training within their own academy, ask questions through their helpdesk, and meet other like-minded entrepreneurs just like me to make the best use of these tools.
